At Zoot Pet Hospital, we focus on preventive medicine through regular check-ups. Caught early, many diseases can be avoided, cured, or controlled. Jim Root
Co-Owner & General Manager
Jim is the co-founder and owner of Zoot and serves as the General Manager of the facility. Jim is married to Courtney. They have two grown children, Haley and Sterling, both proud graduates of Georgetown High School. Jim and Courtney reside in Georgetown with their boxer Stig along with Tex the wonder cat. Jim is a graduate of both Stephen F. Austin (BBA) and Pepperdine University (MBA).
Since Zoot's founding in 2008, Jim has been a guest lecturer at both Southwestern University and University of Texas speaking on topics such as entrepreneurship, business communication, finance and advertising.
Jim has 20+ years of executive sales and marketing management experience working for Shell Oil Company and the Frito-Lay division of PepsiCo where he served as Director of Sales for one of its divisions. With a passion for customer service, Jim will ensure both you and your pet have a positive experience at Zoot. Jim’s admiration for top-tier retailers like Nordstrom, California’s In ‘N Out Burger, Quik Trip Convenience Stores, and Stew Leonards in the northeast, has shaped the vision for the Zoot customer experience. He is an avid tennis player and cyclist, and enjoys spending time outdoors.

Wayne Zeh, DVM
Co-Owner & Veterinarian
Dr. Zeh is the co-founder/owner of Zoot. He has been practicing veterinary medicine in central Texas since 1993 and has extensive experience in canine and exotic pet care. Dr. Zeh graduated from the University of Texas (BBA) and Texas A&M University for his veterinary medical training (BS & DVM). He is married to his beautiful wife Christina and they have three grown children: Rachel, Joshua, and Sarah. Dr. Zeh owns four dogs (two dachshunds, a basset hound and border collie mix). Dr. Zeh is a man of strong faith and is a Deacon and Sunday School teacher in his church in Salado. He is also an avid fitness enthusiast who takes particular interest in cycling and outdoor activities.

Jensen Young, DVM
Co-Owner & Veterinarian
Dr. Young is a graduate of Texas A&M University (BS, Biomedical Science) and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. In addition, Dr. Young attended the Texas A&M Veterinary Clinical Program for his final year of veterinary school. He is the Medical Director for the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) at Zoot Pet Hospital. Dr. Young started his career at Zoot beginning in 2009 and became an owner in 2015.
Dr. Young loves living in Georgetown with his wife Hilary and their two daughters, Emerson and Cameron. The Youngs also have two dogs, Boone and Tucker, and various other critters that their girls bring home to take care of.
Dr. Young’s professional interests include orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, and emerging medical therapies for arthritis. When away from work, Dr. Young enjoys staying active outdoors with family and friends.

Crystal Dupuy, DVM
Associate Doctor
Dr. Crystal Dupuy graduated with honors from Texas Tech University and went on to receive her D.V.M. degree from Ross University in January 2011. Dr. Dupuy completed her clinical program at Oklahoma State University during her final year of veterinary school. While in veterinary school, she participated in multiple externships at Zoot Pet Hospital, with Dr. Zeh and Dr. Young as her mentors. Dr. Dupuy has an interest in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and histopathology. Dr. Dupuy has two dogs, Ned and Dougie, and in her free time enjoys outdoor hikes with her pets, reading, and running.

A.J. Clemmons, DVM
Associate Doctor
Dr. AJ Clemmons attended Texas A&M University where she received her BS in Animal Science in 1993 followed by her DVM in 1997. Her professional interests include canine and feline internal medicine and surgery.
Dr. Clemmons grew up in the Hill Country and has always been surrounded by animals, big and small. In fact, she practiced equine medicine for a number of years following graduation and continues to do so one day a week. She is also an avid equestrian and is often competing with horses when she’s away from the hospital. She and her husband, Mark, share their home with two cats (Simon & PZ), four dogs (Roxie, Bailey, Kirby, & Jester), and three horses (Tuna, Sierra, & Guinness). Dr. Clemmons’ hobbies include competing in triathlons, half marathons, and mountain bike racing.

Ericka Davis, DVM
Associate Doctor
Dr. Ericka Davis received her Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2002 from Texas A&M University, Master of Science degree in Technical Management in 2007 from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and had the exciting honor of working for the US Space Program for 8 years. While at NASA, she was one of the lucky few to experience testing in zero-gravity on the KC-135 “Vomit Comet” and scuba diving with astronauts at the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory and worked directly with Extravehicular Activity (EVA) related tasks associated with the International Space Station (ISS). Always feeling the call to veterinary medicine, she went back to school and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Mississippi State University in 2012. She is certainly grateful for the unique and amazing experiences in her early professional life, but since becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Davis hasn’t looked back and considers herself incredibly fortunate to be practicing in such a rewarding field now. Dr. Davis loves building relationships with people and their beloved pets, and her special interests within veterinary medicine include surgery, general wellness, and oncology.
Originally from Austin and now living in Georgetown, she loves being able to serve the needs of her pet-friendly hometown and support the local animal-related charities. Dr. Davis and her husband, Jeremy, have two adorable daughters, Finley and Ella.

Melinda Hergert, DVM, MVPH, PhD
Associate Doctor
Dr. Hergert grew up in Nassau Bay, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and Master of Veterinary Public Health. She is a formaly trained public health veterinarian and epidemiologist. Having broadened her horizons through either living in, or travelling to, a total of eight different African countries, she earned her Master of Philosophy in Wildlife and Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. While the majority of Dr. Hergert’s professional life has been spent in emergency and small animal medicine, she has also worked with zoo animals, elephants, and other wildlife while overseas.
Dr. Hergert and her husband, Iain, have a Jack Russell named Nike, a Fox Terrier mix called Blossom, and a cat, Nandi. She enjoys any activities related to animals and learning, being outdoors, gardening, and travel. Dr. Hergert’s favorite part of working at Zoot is the staff commitment to patient and customer care.

Robin, LVT
Senior Veterinary Technician
Robin has served as the Senior Veterinary Technician at Zoot since before we had a parking lot. During her 10+ years at Zoot, our clients and staff have come to depend on her knowledge, skill and passion for animal care. She was born and raised in San Pedro, California, and received her Bachelor in Biology from Lamar University. She returned to school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2005, graduating with honors from Cosumnes River College with an Associate degree of Science in Veterinary Technology. Marrying a career US Coast Guard man has given Robin the opportunity to live all over the United States: Texas, Alaska, Virginia, and California. She has two beautiful girls, one of which is an aspiring veterinarian at Texas A&M. Retired from Coast Guard life, Robin and her family have settled well into the Texas Hill Country, residing in Liberty Hill.

Veterinary Technician
Jill has been a licensed technician since 2004. She was born and raised in Westfield, a small town in central Indiana. She found her passion for veterinary medicine in high school while working for a local veterinary hospital after school. After high school, Jill was accepted to and graduated from Morehead State University with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. After graduation, she moved to Lexington and started working in the equine field. Jill landed a job with Haygard Equine Medical where she assisted with surgery on some of the most prestigious thoroughbred horses in the industry. In 2007, she decided to return to small animal medicine where she has been lovingly helping patients lead happy healthy lives. In January 2013, Jill and her boyfriend relocated to Round Rock, Texas. They have two dogs, Derby and Faith, and a cat, Jack. Jill is an avid moviegoer and enjoys talking walks with their dogs and exercising at the gym.

Veterinary Technician
Katie was born and raised in rural Marian, Mississippi. Living in the country influenced her great love for animals from an early age and she first began volunteering at a veterinary hospital after high school; she knew she wanted to help pets for life. After two years attending Meridian Community College, Katie moved to Georgetown in 2008 to be near family and began working as a paid veterinary technician. She enjoys working with pocket pets, especially guinea pigs, which she says came as a surprise. Katie and her husband, Matthew, currently have two dogs—Darla the Catahula and Holly the Great Dane—and three cats named Liddy, Tater, and Shady.

Kimberly
Veterinary Technician
Kimberly joined the Zoot team in 2014. She attended Texas State University and has a B.A in Anthropology and Psychology. She has over 5 years of experience as a veterinary technician and is planning on attending medical school. She and her husband have two dogs (Sterling and Libby) and six cats (Steve McQueen, DeeDee, Consuela, Cookie, Mikey and Izabella Rosalini) and they love them all dearly. In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys spending time with family and friends. So far she is enjoying her time at Zoot and really loves how friendly her fellow employees are and how high the quality of care at Zoot is.

Jacob
Veterinary Technician
As a native of Georgetown, Jacob has worked in veterinary hospitals in Austin and Cedar Park and attended Austin Community College. He competed in gymnastics in his youth and even brought home the state championship title for winning first place in each event! When Jacob left Georgetown to travel, he earned more experience in animal care working at clinics in Boulder, CO and Seattle, WA. His travels brought him home to Georgetown, where he’s excited to be working at Zoot and exploring the growing city with Zee, his pocket-protecting Chihuahua. When not working or traveling, Jacob is an avid writer.

Jenny
Veterinary Technician
Born and raised in sunny South Africa, Jenny moved to Texas with her husband after a three and a half year stop in Tucson, Arizona. Her work with animals began at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona in Tucson 7 years ago, where she was the shelter’s main medical technician. That experience jump started her love for animal care and welfare. Jenny is fluent in ‘Afrikaans,’ loves nature, hiking, camping, gardening, and hula hooping. She also enjoys making creams, lotions, ointments, lip balms, and other arts and crafts. After 5 years at Zoot, her favorite part is getting to work with the animals every day and seeing how happy they are with how much care is taken to make sure their stay is awesome.

Storey, LVT
Veterinary Technician
Storey is a graduate of Florence High School who is currently attending the Veterinary Technician program at Austin Community College, from which she will graduate in 2019. While in school, she is living with her mother and sister, along with her Rottweiler mix, Marley, and Gunner, a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.
In her free time, Storey volunteers at the R.O.C.K. Ride On Center for Kids here in Georgetown. She enjoys the outdoors, particularly riding horses, swimming and hiking. She also enjoys travelling to new places whenever the opportunity arises.
Storey enjoys the staff and clients that she has come to know while working at Zoot. Having discovered her love for working with animals while volunteering at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, she loves her job and notes that it is never work if you love what you are doing.

We’ll get them up to speed on their vaccinations, develop a preventative care schedule, and send them home ready to take on the world.
